INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) butter
  • 1/4 cup (60 milliliters) chopped white onion
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) finely chopped fresh garlic
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) flour
  • 1 can (12 ounces/354 ml) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup (113 grams) shredded white American cheese substitution Substitutions available
    • Monterey Jack cheese
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) processed cheese, such as Velveeta®
  • 1 cup (250 milliliters) Cholula® Salsa Medium – Original
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 milliliter) Club House® Pure Ground Black Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1 Melt butter in medium saucepan on medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium. Whisk in flour; cook and stir 1 minute. Gradually whisk in evaporated milk. Cook, stirring frequently until sauce is slightly thickened. Stir in cheese until melted and smooth.
  • 2 Remove from heat. Stir in Salsa and black pepper. Serve with tortilla chips or cut up veggies, or as a topping for quesadillas, burritos and tacos.

    Test Kitchen Tips:
    • Swap in an extra 2 1/2 cups (282 grams) shredded cheese in place of the Velveeta®, if desired.
